White Lightning Clean Ride Chain Lubricant
The New Name for White Lightning Original
Clean Drivetrain. Dry Wax Protection. Self-Cleaning Performance.
White Lightning Clean Ride is the new name for the original White Lightning self-cleaning chain lubricant. The name has changed, but the proven wax-based formula remains the same.
Designed primarily for dry and dusty conditions, Clean Ride dries to form a protective wax film without leaving behind the oily surface that attracts dirt and abrasive contaminants.
Patented Self-Cleaning Action
As dirt and grime contact the chain, small particles of the outer wax layer flake away and carry the contamination with them.
This patented shedding action helps prevent abrasive material from building up around the chain, cassette and chainrings while you ride.
A Cleaner, Drier Drivetrain
Clean Ride applies as a liquid before setting into a dry wax coating. Because it does not leave an oily film, it attracts considerably less dust and trail debris than a conventional wet lubricant.
The cleaner finish also means less chance of chain marks ending up on your hands, clothing, bike rack or vehicle interior.
Best in Dry and Dusty Conditions
The wax-based formula works particularly well on dry roads, dusty trails and gravel routes.
The dirtier the ride, the more actively the wax sheds contaminants, so the lubricant may require more frequent reapplication after especially dusty or gritty rides.
Suitable for Road and Off-Road Bikes
Clean Ride can be used on road, gravel, mountain, commuter and recreational bikes. Along with chains, it can provide a dry protective coating for derailleur pivots and compatible cable mechanisms.
For the best performance, White Lightning recommends beginning with a thoroughly cleaned chain and avoiding mixing Clean Ride with oil-based lubricants. White Lightning confirms Clean Ride is the renamed original self-cleaning lubricant and explains its application requirements.

Our Thoughts on White Lightning Clean Ride
Clean Ride is a good option for riders who dislike the black, oily buildup that comes with many traditional chain lubricants. Once it has dried properly, the drivetrain stays noticeably cleaner and attracts less dust, making it particularly useful through dry summer riding.
Preparation makes the biggest difference. We recommend thoroughly degreasing the chain before changing from an oil-based lubricant, then allowing Clean Ride enough time to dry before riding. Applying it immediately before leaving the house will not give the wax enough time to set correctly.
It will need more regular application than a heavy wet lubricant, especially after a dirty ride or exposure to sustained rain. For dry road, gravel and trail conditions, however, it provides clean and dependable lubrication without creating an oily mess.
